The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Snakkes, run from Denmark. By creating an account or using Snakkes, the apps for Windows, Mac and phones, you agree to them. How we handle your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13. If you're under 18, make sure a parent or guardian is fine with you using Snakkes.
  • One person, one account. Use your own name or a nickname, but don't pretend to be someone else, and don't create accounts to get around a ban.
  • Keep it safe. You're responsible for what happens with your account, so keep your password to yourself. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
  • Give a real email address that you can read, so we can send you codes and important messages about your account.

The rules

Snakkes is for chatting, calling and playing with friends. When you use it, you must not:

  • harass, bully, threaten or scare anyone, or encourage others to do so;
  • share content that is illegal, sexual content involving anyone under 18, or content that promotes violence, terrorism or hatred against people because of who they are;
  • send spam, chain messages, scams or advertising nobody asked for;
  • share someone else's private information, or photos of them, without their permission;
  • break someone else's rights, like copyright;
  • send viruses or harmful links, or try to break into, overload, copy or take apart Snakkes, its servers or other people's accounts;
  • use bots or automated tools with Snakkes, or sell or rent out your account.

If someone breaks these rules, report it or use Report in the app. In an emergency, contact the police.

Your content

You own the messages, photos, files, posts and drawings you send on Snakkes. To deliver them, you give us permission to store, copy and show them to the people you send them to, and to the audience you choose for a post, for as long as that's needed to run Snakkes. That permission ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept as described in the Privacy Policy (such as content someone reported). You're responsible for what you send, and that you have the right to send it.

Moderation

To keep Snakkes friendly, a word filter checks names, posts and messages, and moderators look at reports and flagged content, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you break these terms, we may hide content, remove you from Find Friends, limit what you can do, or ban your account for a while or for good. We'll tell you why in the app when we can. If you think we got it wrong, write to us, and a person will look at it again.

Snakkes More

  • Optional. Snakkes is free. Snakkes More adds extras like chat themes, your own chat background and a name style. What's included and the price are shown in the app before you buy.
  • Payment. More is a monthly subscription, paid through Stripe in the payment window in Snakkes. It renews every month until you cancel. Free days you still have, from a trial or an invite, are used first.
  • Cancel any time with Manage subscription in the app. More stays on until the end of the month you've paid for, and you're not charged again.
  • Your right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to change your mind. Because More starts right away when you buy it, you agree when buying that it begins at once. If you withdraw within the 14 days anyway, write to us and we'll refund the part of the month you haven't used.
  • Price changes. If the price changes, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, so you can cancel first.
  • A ban for breaking these terms doesn't give you money back for More you've already used, but we'll stop charging you.

The service

We work hard to keep Snakkes running, safe and fun, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may add, change or remove features, and do maintenance now and then. You can follow the status page when something is wrong. Calls go directly between the people in them, so their quality also depends on your internet connection. Keep copies of anything important yourself; you can download your data in Settings → Privacy.

Liability

Snakkes is provided as it is. As far as Danish law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, lost data or profits, or for what other users send or do. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says can't be taken away, or our responsibility where the law doesn't allow us to limit it.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Snakkes and delete your account in Settings → Privacy at any time; what happens to your data is described in the Privacy Policy. We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we close Snakkes. If we close Snakkes, we'll tell you in good time first, so you can download your data, and refund More you've paid for but can't use.

Changes to these terms

When Snakkes changes, these terms may change too. If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Snakkes after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account. The date at the top shows when they were last updated.

Law and disputes

These terms follow Danish law. If you disagree with something, write to us first, and we'll try to sort it out. As a consumer you can also complain to the Danish Consumer Complaints Board (Nævnenes Hus) or use the EU's online dispute resolution, and you keep the protection of the consumer laws where you live.
